Most of our customers are exempt from VAT by virtue of their disability. However, certain products are not eligible for VAT relief, so a description of the VAT status is given along with the price of all items within the shop. If you qualify for VAT Exemption then you will need to complete the 'VAT Exemption Declaration' during the Checkout Process prior to placing an order.
Guest Checkout is offered on this site to those who do not wish to register before placing an order. VAT Exemption is offered during that process and we retain your completed details and confirmation of your electronic signed confirmation that the product/s are provided for a person who is eligible for relief from VAT under the VAT Act 1994.
You are exempt from paying VAT if you are:
An Individual : If you are chronically sick or disabled and the products are for your personal use. You do not need a Doctors letter or other such documentation. Full details can be found at HM Customs and Excise, Notice 701/7, Supplies to handicapped people.
A Charity : Where the goods are made available by the charity to a disabled person for their personal or domestic use. Full details can be found at HM Customs and Excise, Notice 701/7, Supplies to charities.
Buying for someone else : If you are buying this product for or on behalf of someone who is chronically sick or disabled and the product(s) is for their personal use.
How do I prove my eligibility to claim?
Medical documentation is not required (either from yourself, or a person claiming on your behalf) to declare that you’re disabled or chronically sick, but if you are unsure you may wish to consult your doctor or other medical adviser.
